Whats happening at The Cheese Place in the real and virtual worlds.

6/2/08 CHARITY CHEESE AND WINE TASTING 20TH FEBRUARY

We are co-hosting a cheese and wine tasting evening with The Kings Arms in Haworth on 20th Feb at 7.30. The evening will include tasters of around 8 wines and cheeses as well as a buffet.

Funds raised will go towards Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Tickets are available from The Cheese Place and The Kings Arms for £5 per person. You can reserve places over the phone at The Cheese Place by using a credit card.

1/2/08 NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

We are now open for 2008 with some great new season cheeses for you to taste. We have:

KNOCKDRINA - a fab, firm, fudgy textured goats cheese from Ireland.

Y-FENNI - a welsh cheese with a cheddar based and mustard seed. The best accompaniment for a ham sandwich.

WHITE NANCY - a soft, creamy goats cheese from Somerset. Great for grilling on salads and pizza.

1/11/07 HOT STUFF AT THE CHEESE PLACE

The Cheese Place ran a competition in the summer to design a new local cheese based on 'Calderdale Crumbly' cheese. This is made by Robyn and David Heap at their farm near Sowerby Bridge with milk from their herd of 11 cows.

The Heap's offered to make a special edition cheese to be sold exclusively through The Cheese Place. Customers were asked to make suggestions for a flavour and a name for this unique cheese.

It was a tough decision and in the end there are 2 joint winners:

  * Name 'Calderico' suggested by Jane Clark
  * Flavour 'Chilli and Lime Zest' suggested by Elizabeth Elliott

The cheese will go into production over the next month and should be available to buy from The Cheese Place in the spring.

The winners will be choosing some fab food goodies from the shop very soon.
